Black Stallion has added a new hoodie to its lineup of flame resistant full-zip sweatshirts for industrial workers.

The JF3530-NV is a heavier-weight hoodie suitable not only for welding and construction, but for oil and gas and electrical utility work as well.

Like the JF1331-BK, Black Stallion’s best-selling work hoodie, the new JF3530-NV zip-up is full of features designed to enhance comfort, safety and performance.

In addition to being a heavier-weight cotton, 12 oz. compared to 9 oz., one of the biggest differences between the two is the new sweatshirt offers flame resistance that is rated for a particular level of protection, and it lasts twice as long (100 home washings compared to 50).

The JF3530-NV has an AR/FR label which means it has level of flame resistance with an arc rating. That’s important because all clothing with an arc rating (AR) is flame resistant (FR) but not all FR clothing has an arc rating. FR doesn’t have any standards applying to any particular hazard*. AR indicates that a garment has an arc rating and the level of protection has been determined through testing.

The JF3530-NV is NFPA 2112 and NFPA 70E compliant (PPE Category 2). The JF1331-BK is ASTM F1506 compliant.

Both styles of hoodies have a variety of design features important to industrial workers, especially welders: Removable hood, stand-up collar, covered flaps over the pockets and knit cuffs to keep out sparks, and a convenient exterior pocket on the left sleeve. The JF1331-BK is available in Black in sizes Medium through 4XL, and the JF3530-NV is available in Navy in sizes Small through 4XL.

*Flame-resistant means when a spark lands on the garment, the garment will extinguish itself (it won’t continue to burn) but sometimes the spark can create a hole on the garment. Consider leather for full protection for applications that are more than light-duty welding, cutting, and grinding.
