Weldfabulous.com is owned and operated by Mississippi Welders Supply Company in Winona, Minnesota, and is proud of its Veteran Owned Small Business status. The company employs 167 people at 11 locations in the Midwest.

With 80 years of experience, we’ve seen many changes in the welding industry over the decades and we’re currently on the leading edge of welding and cutting automation and robotics. That’s a far cry from our humble beginnings in rural Mondovi, Wisconsin.

Way back in 1939, a group of rugged driver-salesmen would travel the winding back roads through river bluffs and valleys bringing quality supplies to our welding forefathers along the Mississippi River.

As our reputation grew, so did our business and MWS added a store in Winona, Minnesota in 1966. The Winona location is now the headquarters of the company and includes the store, central warehouse, gas filling plant, main office, and weldfabulous.com.

In 1973, the company was purchased by the Peterson Family. Don Peterson, a Navy veteran, oversaw the operation of the company’s stores in Winona, Rochester and Red Wing, Minnesota and La Crosse, Wisconsin. In 1991, the Peterson’s oldest son Brad left his Navy career as a ship captain and ushered in a new era of expansion and diversification.

Brad took over ownership in 1993, and under his leadership the MWS tradition of steady growth continued with expansions to Mankato, Minnesota; Decorah, Iowa; and Hudson, Marshfield, Eau Claire, Wausau and Madison, Wisconsin. In addition to his responsibilities at MWS, Brad serves as President of GAWDA (Gas and Welding Distributors Association).

Most recently, MWS added PurCO2, a provider of beverage gases to restaurants, bars and convenience stores, and Chippewa Fire Extinguisher Services, broadening the service area of our fire safety division, which services fire extinguishers and fire suppression systems throughout the area.

With eyes to the future, MWS is seeking growth in welding and cutting automation. The tight job market nationwide is creating more demand for robotics—a call from our customers that we heard and answered with very capable robotic applications personnel well versed in the metal fabrication industry.
