One of the biggest challenges of TIG welding has always been the difficult combination of necessary heat protection and essential finger mobility. Often, appropriate protection inhibits mobility beyond functionality. As operating without heat resistance is simply not an option, Black Stallion has recently released the FlakFinger heat-shielding sleeve.

Constructed from multi layered, flame-resistant fiberglass, the FlakFinger is designed to fit over your TIG glove (as well as most MIG and stick gloves for propping, sliding, and shielding) to provide enhanced heat protection. A soon-to-be necessity for any TIG welder, the FlakFinger is loaded with versatility such as:

• Use for single finger or two finger protection
• Use on the trigger hand or rod hand (or both)
• A reinforced tail which provides a heat shield for the back of the hand
• An adjustable leather strap, which, once secured, allows gloves to be easily moved on and off without having to remove the FlakFinger

Comfortable foam cushioning takes pressure off of knees and elbows while silicone coated, flame-resistant fiberglass (double-layered on the top surface of the pad) protects the pad from sparks and spatter. Connect two or more together, position it over a hot surface, or even stand the pad up to act as a temporary shield, the SmashPad was designed for application on any project.
