All innovations in one welding helmet: Optrel Panoramaxx

Jun 5th 2017

Are you ready for a whole new view on welding? Optrel’s latest innovation is the Panoramaxx auto darkening welding helmet. It combines all the technology from other helmets, like the e684’s True Color filter, and Autopilot and Twilight functions, the Vegaview’s 2.5 light state clarity, and the Weldcap’s wide view lens design.

Optrel representatives stop by Weldfabulous to show us the Panoramaxx. I simply could not wait to put this bad boy on. All I said was, “Wwwoooowww”. I was simply amazed by the view. I could see beyond the typical view window of any other welding helmet on the market. If you are the type who would prefer to have the most available peripheral view possible, as well as, visual clarity while working, you must treat yourself to this helmet.

I will say this helmet does look unique. There is a nose bridge cut out to the lens. Why? It’s not a fashion statement, that’s for sure. Its purpose was created from research and development. This notch allows for that lens to sit closer to your eyes. This design is what allows for the increase field of view, by a staggering 6 times over any other standard welding helmet. That’s a 600% more view on what you are doing. This is genius, because they didn’t simply make a bigger ADF. No, no, no, that would add unwanted weight to the helmet. This proprietary design allowed Optrel’s engineers to maintain a lightweight helmet, weighing only 18.7 ounces.

Here’s a quick snapshot of all the features you get in one Panoramaxx helmet:

Panorama Field of View: 6 times larger field of vision than standard welding helmets – and is still lightweight at only 18.7 ounces (550 g).

True Color View: A specially developed UV/IR filter allows realistic color perception.

Twilight Function: Restores light more naturally, presenting a smooth transition to the eyes to reduce eye fatigue automatically.

Delay Function: When a material continues to glow after welding or the ADF quickly switches from dark to light after a long period of welding, the welder can be briefly dazzled. Use this delay function to delay the ADF from opening, thereby greatly improving operating comfort.

Comfort Headband: Ensures optimum weight distribution and has a telescopic mechanism so that the helmet can be individually adjusted to ensure an optimum field of vision.

Overhead Welding: Smoke- and particle-deflecting helmet shell design.

Power Pack: High-performance solar cell and a lithium-polymer energy pack that can be recharged with a USB cable - changing batteries is no longer necessary.

Multi-sensor Detection: The completely redesigned controls of the 5-sensor array ensure the perfect regulation of the auto-darkening filter.

Autopilot: Recognizes and adjusts the correct shade level fully automatically. Autopilot can be turned off for manual adjustments if preferred.

Sensitivity Adjustment: Continuously variable sensitivity control allows the sensor sensitivity to be adapted to the surroundings and workplace. This function can also be used if welding at low amperage.

Warranty Extension: 2 Years + 1 year warranty extension (except batteries) for online product registration within the first 6 months.

When buying the Panoramaxx welding helmet, you get the helmet (of course), a storage bag, a micro USB cable, the user manual, a warranty card, and one front cover lens replacement.

If you would like “cheater” lenses, this helmet does require Optrel’s propriety magnification lenses. They are available in 1.00, 1.50, 2.00, and 2.50 magnifications.

Get this helmet. I am sure you won’t be disappointed.
